"We also significantly reduced the size of Deepnest, which seems unbelievable, given how huge it ended up being, but most players would thank us for that decision," Gibson tells GI. It also turns out Deepnest was once much bigger than what now appears in-game. They eventually moved the zone south, before ultimately axing it entirely.īoth Gibson and Pellen seem certain this was the right decision, but it did look cool nevertheless: In conversation with Wes, Gibson and teammate William Pellen explained they originally planned to have other levels below the Boneforest-which Gibson didn't approve of. William and I were already slammed with all the other enormous areas to build, and they all would have suffered for Boneforest’s inclusion." It seemed so cool! But it was totally the right thing to do. "It was a huge later-game area filled with lava. "We removed one large area from the game, the Boneforest," Gibson tells GI. The dev's Ari Gibson has spoken more about the ill-fated area in an interview with Game Informer. When Wes caught up with Hollow Knight creators Team Cherry last year, they mentioned Boneforest-a lava-filled zone that was cut near the end of the game's development. Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to Steam, Gog, the Humble Store and the Nintendo Switch, if you have one of those. It sounds like the sequel's map could be even bigger than Hallownest. Its intricately designed map and atmospheric storytelling earned it a GOTY award from us in 2017. This is welcome news because we love Hollow Knight. The trailer shows a a grapple line, a spinning razorblade and a host of small companion bugs. Hornet will have to face 150 new enemies with a highly mobile acrobatic combat style and new tools. The website mentions "gilded cities, lakes of fire, and misted moors". It looks like the new setting will allow for more variety than Hollow Knight's melancholy ruined city. ![]() That means a new map full of beautiful art, boss monsters, and towns of cute bug people. ![]() In Hollow Knight: Silksong you play as the princess-protector of Hallownest, Hornet, who has been captured and taken to a different land. Team Cherry has announced a sequel to the awesome metroidvania Hollow Knight last night with a trailer, a website, and some colourful screenshots. ![]() You can learn more about the exhibition here. The eight archived games join an additional 70 designed to showcase broader videogame history.
